I am thrilled to see so much passionate interest in OLCV's endorsements this year.  We have received hundreds of comments, replies and inquiries about our endorsements process and decisions.  It all illustrates just how meaningful having the OLCV seal of approval is to candidates running for office and their supporters.  Conservation is a value that runs deep in Oregonians throughout the state.  Oregonians want to see that value reflected in their elected leaders.

Today, Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana announced he will not be seeking re-election to the US Senate. His stated reason is his belief that the US Senate is not the best place for him to serve the public anymore. He expressed dismay over the seeming inability to find bipartisan cooperation on what should be non-controversial issues.

If you haven't had a chance to read this excellent piece, written by Richard Cockle of the Oregonian, about the Wind Energy developments that are set to go up in the Steens Mountains, I strongly recommend it.

If you haven’t turned in your ballot yet, perhaps it’s because you can’t decide which bubbles to fill in: The Yes bubbles or the No bubbles.

Like many people, you’ve seen the TV ads, heard the radio ads, read newspaper editorials, op-eds and letters to the editor, but still can’t make up your mind.  You want to do what’s right.  But how do you figure out what is right with all this yammering?
