Who we elect matters

Check out this great video, created by our friends at Compass Media, highlighting Oregon's environmental champions and the incredible environmental safeguards they have helped to secure that help preserve Oregon's unique quality of life. This video was unveiled at OLCV's 13th Annual Dinner for the Environment on April 23, 2010. More than 1,100 guests attended.

Earlier this week, a coalition of farmers and conservation groups released a map to show the areas they want to see protected as part of the current Urban and Rural Reserve designation process being undertaken by Metro and the region's County Governments.

In the future, when you drive into Lake Oswego you may see a sign that reads "Welcome to a Green Power Community. We exceed EPA guidelines for buying clean, renewable energy."

The EPA announced that it is recognizing Lake Oswego as one of its Green Power Communities. Residents and businesses are helping to take the equivalent of 4,500 cars off the road through their purchases of renewable energy.

Since the defacing of Keller Auditorium in the wee hours last night--a sort--of makeshift welcome mat for the global-warming naysayers and a foreshadowing of tonight's "Tea Party" outside Keller--the community is striking back with force.

Tonight, Democratic Party precinct committee people will gather in North Portland to select three to five candidates for the Senate District 22 seat, which was recently vacated by Senator Margaret Carter.

Those nominees then go to the Multnomah County Commissioners, who appoint the new Senator.
