OLCV e-bulletin: NO LNG, Great News,Volunteer Spotlight and events
Stop the LNG Fast Track Bill: No on HB 3058!
Oregon is threatened by three Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) proposals that will emit 30% more global warming pollution than domestic gas, destroy critical salmon nurseries, and create 600 miles of pipelines across hundreds of rivers, including the Wild and Scenic Clackamas and Deschutes.
The Legislature is considering a bill that would fast track the permitting of LNG-related pipelines through rivers and wetlands.
Please contact your legislators by May 20 and tell them to Vote No on HB 3058.

Oregon House passes clean energy bill
Last Friday, the Oregon House of Representatives passed the first climate change bill of the session with a 32-28 vote. House Bill 2186, introduced as part of the governor’s healthy climate package, authorizes the Oregon Environmental Quality Commission to adopt common-sense, cost-effective strategies that will not only reduce the state’s global warming emissions but also will spur local innovation and business opportunities, and save Oregonians money.

Vote for pro-environment candidates on May 19
Voters in many Oregon counties will be electing candidates for a variety of positions on May 19. Many of these positions have a direct impact on the environment at both the state and local level.
OLCV has endorsed candidates in four counties based on a process that includes both a questionnaire and an interview. These candidates have earned the OLCV seal of approval for their past environmental records and for their commitment to preserve Oregon’s environmental legacy.
Check out OLCV's endorsements.
Remember: The best way to make sure your ballot gets to the election office on time is to drop it off yourself. There are drop boxes conveniently located throughout your county. Find the ballot drop box closest to you.
Volunteer to help these candidates win!
We need your help to make sure these pro-environment candidates are elected.

Volunteer spotlight: Phaedra Booth
Phaedra Booth doesn’t need a paycheck to get motivated. That’s obvious in her casual admission of having grown accustomed to “60, 70, 80-hour work-weeks.” It’s even more obvious because this blue-eyed, fast -talking 28-year-old has been spending three days a week in Salem as an Oregon League of Conservation Voters Policy Fellow. Unpaid.
It’s passion that drives her, and a strong desire to protect the environment. As an assistant to OLCV Legislative Affairs Director Evan Manvel, she’s doing important work in the nitty-gritty behind-the-scenes of law-making: Taking notes at hearings, coordinating meetings with representatives, writing floor letters and fact sheets, and even testifying before committees…
