Help OLCV Ring in Real Change this New Year

Happy Holidays from OLCV! We have a lot to celebrate this year!

As a result of OLCV's work in the elections, next year we will have the largest number of pro-environment legislators in the Oregon capitol since the 1970s.
At the same time, the economic crisis is rightly occupying the nation's attention, providing dramatic proof that business as usual isn't working.

Our recovery relies on the creation of a sustainable energy economy and green jobs. OLCV is determined to keep this message in the forefront during Oregon's 2009 Legislative Session!

Please help OLCV seize this historic opportunity - that may not come again for a very long time! Please take a moment now to make a contribution of $35, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford on our secure server.

What's in Store for 2009?

OLCV knows that electing good leaders is just the first step to passing strong laws that protect our environment.

During the 2009 session, OLCV will be in Salem every day, advocating for bills to protect our rivers and native species, combat global warming, and promote sustainable energy options.

We do this by leading the Oregon Conservation Network, an alliance of 50 conservation groups. Together the OCN determines the most important environmental priorities for the Legislature. We know that by working together, we can accomplish more for Oregon.

View the OCN's 2009 "Priorities for a Healthy Oregon."

In 2007, OLCV's effective advocacy helped pass all five of the OCN's Priorities. We are excited about our prospects in 2009, but we need your support to ensure OLCV is in the Capitol every day. Please take a moment now to make an end-of-the-year gift to OLCV on our secure server.

Why Your Support is Needed Today

Every day, short-sighted corporations (like the ones that got us into this mess) try to convince our elected officials that we can't afford to limit pollution, or take meaningful steps to combat global warming. Many of them are using this economic crisis to increase this pressure.

But in 2009, we have the unique opportunity to refocus our economy around green energy, while protecting our air, water and land for future generations. OLCV needs your support to watchdog our elected officials and make sure they live up to their campaign promises.

It is hard to put a price on air that's good to breathe, on flowing, healthy streams teeming with wild native fish, on moments of solitude in nature and beautiful vistas.

But this is exactly what OLCV works to protect and defend. We work to elect candidates who support our values, and then watchdog them to ensure that they vote the right way on bills to protect our air, water, and land, and not sell out our children's legacy to the highest bidder.

I hope you can help OLCV continue to effectively protect all that you love best about Oregon.

Happy Holidays, and thank you!
